memento mori: a reflection on our shared experience of mortality art exhibition and cemetery panel on on the history of Atlanta’s historic cemeteries
memento mori is at the Chastain Arts Center and Gallery

This panel was a resonate experience. I learned about the work of Kella Roberson and now I wanna learn all about black cemeteries and preservation work in Atlanta and beyond. I was also reminded of the work of Abra Lee through Roberson, which led me to this podcast episode about black garden clubs and now I wanna tend to my garden and join a black garden club and encouraged me to pick up my copy of Black Flora which I have sold in the past but had not read cover to cover.
we also attend CurbFest Atl
popped over to the ACP to view the Adam Davis exhibition on view through december 2025

this past weekend:
was my eldest child’s 17th birthday! we are in the throws of art school applications so we spent the weekend at Atlanta Art Fair and Site at The Goat Farm. Olamma Oparah’s SomatiQ Black: Neci left a strong impression, my child said, “that she really needed to see, hear, feel, and think about” the film and installation.
thank you to Olamma Oparah.
I also hosted a book signing at ACP for Mickalene Thomas this past sunday.

Queer Mourners: Healthcare Directives
I am hosting myself at yes please this wednesday for the first installment of Queer Mourners! come over and let’s think about who is or can be called in to be responsible for you, who do you want by your side in an emergency, who should receive status updates during medical treatment. this is also an opportunity to provide directions about your end of life care. Healthcare Directives are an accessible first step towards creating an incapacity and end of life plan; if you don’t create a plan, the state has created one for you. this is important for the queer community because our answers may not be the default answers provided by the law and hospital protocol. we can choose otherwise with proactive planning.
