Parable of the Sower Day / TCB Dinner / Signed Copies/ Summer Break Notice

I was invited to talk my shit about yes please and the potentiality of bookstores of a similar bent and I shared the following:
yes please and bookstores like it have the capacity through literature and community collaboration to address our material, cognitive, political, and embodied needs.
bookstores as sites for learning and practicing within our community, as sites for collective ideation and connection are needed to respond in kind to our current political landscape that seeks to estrange and isolate us from one another while materially impacting the kinds of literature, knowledge, and discourses we are able to access and even engage publicly.
bookstores can be sites of imagining other ways of being despite ongoing socio-political, cultural, and educational antagonisms by bringing the literature to the people in ways that reflect the lives that we wish to live.
what are your thoughts on this?
with time, I plan to think on what it means to be a community space that isn’t neutral or exclusionary but a site for generative confrontation, for getting at the root of things…
sunday july 26th is Parable of the Sower Day
on this day, we commemorate Parable of the Sower, to activate our attention to our current conditions to build courage and vision for a more generative future.
the offerings:
11A - 12:30P
read - discuss - divine
we’ll come together to reflect on what we’ve read, what we know, and how we can dream, plan and prepare for a future Octavia would be proud of with the support of our divination tools.
suggestions: bring your copies of Parable of the Sower & Parable of the Talents and share your annotations with us. bring your tarot, oracle, and playing card decks and share what card comes forward. bring your own sense making tools and share with us how they’ve offered you support time and time again.
4P - 6P
Parable of the Sower Day Fair
I wanted a science / social studies fair vibe but that just is not about to happen, I’ll try again later in the fall…
to open this up a bit, how about this:
if you have
a presentation
fanfiction
zine
poem
short essay
a song
(no spoken word please)
let me know here, this form is still accepting submissions. answer the questions as best as you can and plan to share with us on sunday!
a close and recent read of the Parable of the Sower and/or Parable of the Talents1 is not a bad idea yet if you haven’t found the time to do so that is not a reason to sit this one out. come over, come in participate in the giving and receiving of what becomes available when we join together in one room
